Career Pathways Program

Greetings graduate students and graduate faculty!

Career Pathways connects ODU graduate students and postdocs with career and professional development programs, events, and planning tools.

Career Pathways includes two certificate programs:

1. Preparing Future Faculty (PFF) Certificate

Designed for graduate students and postdocs pursuing academic careers.
To earn the PFF Certificate, students will:

  • Complete a mentored teaching experience
  • Create a CV
  • Attend PFF and other professional development events
  • Produce an ePortfolio demonstrating professional growth

2. Preparing Future Professionals (PFP) Certificate

Designed for those pursuing careers in industry, government, nonprofits, or other non‑academic sectors.
To earn the PFP Certificate, students will:

  • Develop an Individual Development Plan (IDP)
  • Create a résumé
  • Attend or complete professional development activities
  • Produce an ePortfolio demonstrating career‑readiness

Both programs are free, open to all ODU graduate students and postdocs, and do not require formal enrollment. Students simply complete the requirements and submit the link to their ePortfolio.
