VACPA chapter approved; announcement from Interim President and HIED Ph.D. alum

It is our pleasure to inform you that the Virginia College Personnel Association (VACPA), a constituent group of ACPA, has been officially approved!

This chapter of ACPA will focus on supporting individuals committed to student development in higher education at all levels across Virginia. By coordinating professional development opportunities, facilitating networking, and providing online resources, VACPA aims to promote a robust state-wide approach to those interested in student affairs.

The chapter will formally launch January 1st, however the interim leadership team is hard at work to begin enacting our mission! As faculty supporting the development of future higher education professionals and researchers; we aim to be a valuable resource for you and your students by providing a platform for research dissemination, opportunities for professional collaboration, and an intentional focus on supporting graduates as they prepare to enter and advance through the field. This commitment is formally instilled in our leadership structure with the inclusion of the Faculty Liaison and Graduate Student Liaison(s) roles.

Of particular interest to graduate students, members may join VACPA through a membership with ACPA national or may join the VACPA directly with a significantly lower fee. More information on the costs and benefits of membership will be available on the VACPA website, coming soon.  We are hoping that you will share this letter with students and colleagues in your program and on your campus.

We look forward to collaborating with you all as we work to support higher education across the state.
