Our very own Camisha Parker, Ph.D. student in the Community College Leadership, is one of twelve competitors at the university-wide 3 Minute Thesis competition! She competes on Tuesday, November 30 from 6-8pm. The competition will take place on campus and be livestreamed for all to see. Attendees will have a chance to vote for the people’s choice award, so let’s pack the crowd and vote! From the Graduate School:

Old Dominion University’s Graduate School will host its fifth annual 3-Minute-Thesis (3MT) competition Nov. 30. The students and a limited live audience will be in the University Theatre for the presentations with the full event available to the general public via livestream.

Students have three minutes to present their scholarship in such a way that a general audience understands and appreciates its importance and achievement.

The competition is from 6 to 8 p.m. Barbara Hamm Lee, owner of Sharing Info, Inc., and host of WHRO’s Another View, is the emcee. She is joined by three VIP judges from the community who bring diverse academic backgrounds and expertise to their evaluations of the students.

Graduate students representing a range of advanced degrees (at both doctoral and master’s levels) are competing for a $1,000 first prize, $750 second prize and $500 “people’s choice” award (the audience will choose who wins the $500). The first-place winner will represent ODU at a regional competition hosted by the Council of Southern Graduate Schools in February in Raleigh, North Carolina.

  • Yasir Alanazi, Ph.D., computer science
