The Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE) is once again holding research methods workshops geared toward doctoral students and recent graduates. The first workshop, Reciprocity in Higher Education Research, will be held Friday, August 20, 2021 from 1:00pm-4:00pm Atlantic/San Juan Time. The workshop description is as follows:
Reciprocity in research is an important component of equity-based inquiry, and one that requires deep attention and care from scholars. Traditional concepts of reciprocity often obscure the ways that whiteness and colonization have infused research, limiting the potential of research to advance liberation. Drawing from Indigenous, critical race nepantlera, and anti-colonial knowledges and methods, this session will enable participants to expand their knowledge of expansive philosophies of what constitutes reciprocity, learn specific practices and approaches that advance it, and be better prepared to apply these approaches to ensure full participation and benefit alongside the communities and individuals whose insights shape our thinking and practice.
ASHE is holding three additional research workshops in fall term:
- Utilizing and Teaching Critical Approaches to Quantitative Research, Friday, September 10, 2021, 1:00pm-4:00pm Atlantic/San Juan Time
- Community College Research, Friday, October 8, 1:00pm-4:00pm Atlantic/San Juan Time
- Visual & Digital Performance Methods Workshop, Friday, October 15, 1:00pm-4:00pm Atlantic/San Juan Time
