The Career Pathways program fills this need, preparing graduate students for successful transition into thriving careers.

Career Pathways offers a gateway to resources, programs, events and planning tools for all ODU graduate students and postdocs.

Career Pathways offers two professional development programs and associated certificates.

PREPARING FUTURE PROFESSIONALS (PFP)

Designed for graduate students and postdocs interested in a non-academic career such as in industry, non-profit/non-governmental organizations, or government agencies.

Earn the PFP Certificate by:

  • Developing an individual development plan (IDP)
  • Creating and/or revising/updating a resume
  • Attending professional development events or complete professional development activities
  • Producing an ePortfolio to document and highlight professional development and growth

PREPARING FUTURE FACULTY (PFF)

Designed for graduate students and postdocs interested in an academic career.

Earn the PFF Certificate by:

  • Completing a mentored teaching experience
  • Creating a curriculum vitae (CV)
  • Attending PFF and other professional development events
  • Producing an ePortfolio to document and highlight professional development and growth
