The ODU  Experience: Shaping Practice, Purpose, and Possibilities talk by Dr. Mark Diacopoulos

The Department of Teaching and Learning is offering a keynote presentation and conversation by the department’s Darden Fellow Awardee prior to the Awards Luncheon on Thursday, February 26th from 10am to 10:45am. Dr. Mark Diacopoulos, Assistant Provost and Associate Professor at Pittsburg State University, will share his experiences as an ODU graduate student and how those experiences have informed his professional learning, practice and scholarship throughout his career, in “The ODU  Experience: Shaping Practice, Purpose, and Possibilities.”

About the Awardee

Dr. Mark Diacpoulos is in his 31st year as an educator, receiving his MSED in secondary education and PhD in Curriculum and Instruction from ODU in the Department of Teaching and Learning. He has taught high school social studies, served as an instructional technology resource teacher, social studies coordinator, and currently is an Associate Professor and Assistant Provost at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas. He researches diverse topics such as how to integrate technology into the curriculum, the development of social studies preservice educators, teacher candidate dispositions, and the ever-evolving identities of teachers and educators. Dr. Diacopoulos has published numerous articles and chapters on the process of becoming a teacher educator based on his experiences as a doctoral student and faculty member, and recently co-authored a book on self-study research methods. In his keynote, Dr. Diacopoulos will discuss his experiences as a student in the Darden College of Education and Professional Studies, and how those experiences have influenced his professional learning and practices as a researcher and institutional leader.
