This is open to anyone: students, alumni, interested parties… đ
Itâs the most wonderful time of the year: registration for the Student Affairs Assessment Leadership’s (SAAL) free, assessment open course is officially open!
This is a free, self-paced, asynchronous 8-module course to help you learn about and lead assessment efforts. We built the course with the expectation/goal of people spending 1-2 hours per module (and multiple years of past participants have indicated thatâs how much time theyâve spent!). The course is primarily geared toward assessment beginners, but there is great content that can be an awesome refresher for more experienced folks. We also welcome and appreciate those willing to offer their wisdom within the course to help positively impact newer-to-assessment folks. And though the name of the course includes “student affairs”, easily 90% of the course content is applicable/transferable for academic affairs assessment. In other words, faculty and academic staff are welcome!
Side note: It can be a nice, FREE complement to grad school courses you may have/had đ (but it will not replace a credit-bearing course!)
The course runs from February 3 â March 30, 2025. If youâre looking at that window of time and thinking, âYikes! Iâm super busy/likely not going to be able to take the course, but this is so cool/I wish I could see whatâs in there!â We strongly encourage you to register anyway! This course was built to be a resource, first and foremost, and folks who register retain access to the course indefinitely. So, if youâre looking for assessment resources, sign up to gain access and review them when youâre able. And if you happen to be able to engage/complete the course while it runs, good for you â you can earn a badge đ
Registration is open now and will remain open through March 21, 2025 (end of 7th week of the 8-week course). I encourage folks to register now so youâll get announcements/info/access for the course as early as possible, but registration remains open for a while. To get the most up-to-date information about the course (syllabus, instructor info, data, course endorsements, resources for taking the course), explore the main page and subpages on SAALâs website.
Big thanks to our sponsors! The course is made possible due to the generous partnership and support from Modern Campus, KnowMeQ, James Madison University’s Center for Assessment and Research Studies, and Magna Publications.
