The UVM HESA program has a long-standing student-run journal, and we are currently accepting submissions for the 46th journal issue. Submissions are on a rolling basis, but the priority deadline for a proposal is Sept. 29th. Please see below for information on this year’s timely theme and submission process information.
Coalition and Insurgence: Responding to Anti-DEI Climate of Higher Education
This has been a year of rapidly expanding intrusive legislation, policies, and practices to roll back and maintain educational inequities in higher education. Actors in higher education have extinguished programs and liquidated offices aimed at promoting educational justice for marginalized groups throughout the world. Diversity, equity, and inclusion are imperative for students, staff, and faculty. Within this context, we seek to pool resources that enable justice and equity in higher education. What will the response be? How can one find co-conspirators? What can we imagine as a possible change in this climate?
This year, the 46th volume of the Vermont Connection seeks articles, personal narratives, art, podcasts, and creative projects that contribute to educational theory and practices that enable transformative social justice in higher education. We seek to highlight original research, essays, theories, policy proposals, and stories that bring to light new ways of thinking in an explicit anti-DEI climate for colleges and universities. We ask individuals to share observed phenomena, insights, and advice on creating a bulwark or carve out a new path for diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education.
Please visit https://forms.gle/pvnXtU8LfBwqrmyr5 for more information on the guidelines for submitting a proposal for TVC 46. Proposal submissions are due 11:59 p.m. September 29th.
If you have any other questions, please get in touch with the journal editors, Steve Zatarain (steve.zatarain@uvm.edu) or Sherif Alao (sherif.alao@uvm.edu).
We are looking forward to your submissions!
Thank you,
