Dr. Laura Smithers has a new publication in Departures in Critical Qualitative Research. The article, “Fuck It: Profaning Methodologies,” explores the generative stance of a fuck it aesthetic applied to research methodology using tools from affect theory, cultural studies, and pop culture. The findings detail three (of myriad) fuck it locations, all alongside observations of learning community classrooms with the goal of expanding how research values educational environments and can keep experimentation alive: fuck it (nothing matters) – thinking with John McLemore and the podcast S Town, fuck it (this will not stand) – thinking with B*ll O’Re*lly’s Inside Edition outburst, and fuck it (we’re doing something) – thinking with Lizzo and Missy Elliott’s “Tempo.”
