ArtsBridge seeks two individuals to fill residence life positions for ArtsBridge Summer, July 17–August 4, 2023, at Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio. Please review the job postings (below) for Community Director and Assistant Community Director.
Job Title: Community Director, ArtsBridge
Dates: *Monday, July 17 – Friday, August 4, 2023
*Includes early arrival for staff training. In the 6 weeks prior to the start of the program, the Community Director will also be required to collaborate with ArtsBridge staff to create a training plan for the residence hall staff. This will require 2–3 Zoom meetings and independent work.

Program Description:
Held on the campus of Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio, ArtsBridge Summer programs are designed for high school students interested in pursuing musical theater, acting, and classical voice at the college level. Our programs give students an immersive experience in classes, coaching, ensembles, and workshops taught by college faculty on a college campus, with college audition preparation as a primary focus. Approximately 125–150 students (ages 15–19) participate in ArtsBridge Summer programs.
College Application & Essay Bootcamp Add-on (July 17 – July 20): approximately 20 students (rising seniors) will participate in a college application and essay bootcamp.
Job Description:
The Community Director will train and oversee all Residence Life staff during ArtsBridge Summer. The Community Director is required to live on campus in a Baldwin Wallace residence hall (private room) for the duration of the summer program. The Community Director will supervise one Assistant Community Director and 17 Resident Assistants. ArtsBridge RAs are not formally trained RAs but are college-aged students who are alumni of the ArtsBridge Summer program and will be required to participate in a training before the start of the program.
College Application & Essay Bootcamp Add-on (July 17 – July 20): during this time, the Community Director and Assistant Community Director will be responsible for supervising approximately 20 students in the residence halls.
Community Director Responsibilities:
Staff Supervision & Training
· Prior to the start of the program, the Community Director will create a training plan for Residence Hall Staff that includes all residence hall policies and procedures.
- The Community Director will meet with ArtsBridge via Zoom to discuss training needs and ArtsBridge will provide a policy handbook and expectations for this training.
- Meet with Assistant Community Director via Zoom leading up to the program to discuss staff training.
· Lead training for Resident Assistants the day before ArtsBridge students arrive – staff training will occur on Thursday, July 20 & approximately 125 – 150 students will arrive on Friday, July 21.
· Supervise all Residence Life staff including Assistant Community Director and approximately 17 RAs.
· Assist and advise Resident Assistants as situations arise.
Community Support
· Assist with coordinating move in and move out for all students & staff.
· Assist Resident Assistants with roommate conflicts & mediations.
· Lead daily meetings for Resident Assistants and check-ins, as needed.
· Uphold all ArtsBridge & Baldwin Wallace housing policies and procedures.
Communication & Reporting
· Serve as liaison between Residence Life staff and other lead ArtsBridge staff.
· Communicate regularly with lead ArtsBridge staff to report on student and housing concerns, etc.
· Communicate with parents during the ArtsBridge program relating to housing or other issues, as needed.
· Triage student medical concerns, as needed, with support from lead ArtsBridge staff.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree
· Previous residence hall experience or related student affairs experience
· Previous experience designing and/or implementing staff training.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Experience supervising a team of staff
Remuneration:
Room & Board + $3,400 (includes a private room, private bath and 3 meals per day)
