Queer and Trans People in Education (QTPiE) is a multi-institutional research team with a mission to educate, advocate, and build coalitions that advance equitable policies and practices for queer and trans people in higher education. In order to address the void of quantitative queer and trans scholarship in higher education, this grant will provide the opportunity for an emerging scholar to collaboratively work with QTPiE to analyze quantitative data on queer and trans college students. Benefits include $1500, collaborating on a summer 2022 research project with QTPiE members, presenting findings in a national webinar, and the potential to co-author an academic manuscript.
Given the grant purpose, we seek emerging scholars who are interested in building their quantitative skills and who have a demonstrated commitment to educational liberation for QT college students. We especially encourage QT BIPOC, trans and nonbinary, and QT disabled people to apply. We consider emerging scholars any of the following:
- Doctoral students
- Independent researchers who have graduated with their doctoral degree within 3 years
- Postdoctoral fellows
- Early career faculty within 3 years of entering the professoriate
- Practitioner scholars who are working in postsecondary education or nonprofit organizations
