Dr. Heidi Fischer joins the faculty as a Visiting Assistant Professor

We are excited to announce that Dr. Heidi Fischer has joined the Higher Education and Community College Leadership program faculty as a Visiting Assistant Professor!

Dr. Fischer has recently published on the impact of COVID-19 on international education at US community colleges as well as refugees in international higher education. Her research interests include virtual international education, education abroad, and community college internationalization. She has also worked with graduate program director Dr. Smithers on a multi-year research project on high-impact practices and student engagement.

Heidi holds an AA from Randolph Community College, a BA in French and BS in International Business from High Point University, and an MA in International Affairs from American University in DC. Prior to her doctoral work, Heidi worked in several academic affairs offices including academic advising, education abroad, and international partnership development.

Heidi will begin teaching courses this upcoming Fall 2021 semester. Welcome!
