2021 Social Mobility Symposium

We are excited to invite you to our first  2021 Social Mobility Symposium webinar event. We are thrilled to bring together higher education leaders to enhance social mobility practices.

January 27. 2021

Wednesday, January 27, 2021
1 p.m., EDT | 10 a.m., PDT

This is our 3rd year hosting the Social Mobility Symposium at Old Dominion University and normally we gather on campus to engage in conversations with national speakers. Once again, COVID-19 is persistent in disrupting those in-person gatherings. To continue this important dialogue, we are hosting another session of the webinar series.

When: January 27, 2021 1:00 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada)

Topic: Student success strategies and culturally sustaining practices

Presented by:

Dr. Amber Garrison Duncan
Strategy Director for Student Success at Community Colleges
Lumina Foundation

Join us Wednesday, January 27, as Dr. Amber Garrison Duncan addresses social mobility topics and provides practical tips on student success strategies and culturally-sustaining practices. In addition, there will be a focus on supporting adults of color in an age of decreasing traditional age students. This is a critical discussion especially during the COVID-19 pandemic and the impending economic recovery.  It is increasingly urgent to focus on the needs of our students and how we can enhance their upward social mobility.  We look forward to embracing the new year and gathering for our first Social Mobility Symposium webinar of 2021.
