Chris Glass will deliver a lecture entitled, “Education for a World Lived in Common with Others: Belonging in the New Global University” on Friday March 8th at 1:00pm at the University College Dublin in Dublin, Ireland. He will be joined by a dozen graduate students from the Darden College of Education and Professional Studies who are participating in the UK/Ireland study abroad program.
The abstract for his presentation is provided below:
Globalisation has led to the unprecedented movement of goods, services, people, and ideas across borders. This presentation offers a person-centered approach to understanding the evolving interrelationship between globalisation and belonging for all university students. It will encourage a multilayered conversation about the geopolitical, networked, and interpersonal dynamics that shape students’ identification with their social, relational and physical surroundings during their university studies. The presentation will focus on new and emerging understanding of belonging in an ever-changing world from a multidisciplinary perspective, as well as discuss implications for policy and practice.
