CBFA- Event & Marketing Intern

Description:

Old Dominion University’s Coalition of Black Faculty & Administrators seeks a Graduate student to assist event planning, marketing and communications efforts. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of marketing and event planning while working for a well-known higher education institution. Position is open for fall, spring and summer semesters. Requires an average 8 – 10 hours/week (flexible depending on event schedule; as necessary to receive academic credit).

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with social media management, social media postings, presentations and event materials
  • Assist in strategy and content development for marketing, activities, membership campaigns activities, etc. to support the Coalition as opportunities arise
  • Attend CBFA meetings and CBFA sponsored activities
  • Provide resource information to CBFA members, other Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and ODU faculty and staff
  • Maintain various calendars and CBFA email correspondence
  • Provide support in the planning of projects, workshops and special events related to diversity, inclusion, employee retention, etc. 
  • Promote CBFA events and opportunities to the Monarch and greater Hampton Roads communities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Great interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in social media management
  • Great organizational and event planning skills
  • Excellent attention to details
  • General institutional knowledge including campus locations, services, and resources
  • Intermediate proficiency level in Microsoft Office applications that may include but are not limited to Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Google G Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Outlook, etc. 
  • Have a genuine interest in the importance of diversity and inclusion within various aspects of higher education
  • Resourcefulness, creativity and graphic design skills welcome!
