USFSP Student Life and Engagement Student Center Operations Summer Internship

The Student Center Operations Summer Intern (SI) will collaborate with the Union Operations Coordinator to oversee the daily operations of the University Student Center (USC) at USFSP. In addition to the experience in our new student center, the Summer Intern will also gain experience in activities & programming as well as conference & event management.

Hours and Compensation:

  • The Summer Intern will work 20-29 hours a week beginning Monday May 20t​ h​ and continuing employment until Friday July 26t​ h​ (Dates are negotiable).
  • The position pays $10 an hour and includes on campus housing.

Duties Include:

The duties and responsibilities of the USC Summer Intern shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Supervise 20 student staff members in USC
  • Assists in the scheduling, supervising, hiring, assessing, and training of USC Student Staff
  • Plan and coordinate summer programming for summer students
  • Advise in the reservations and scheduling process for events utilizing University Student Center
  • Assist in creating operating policies/procedures, student training programs, and event management processes
  • Work closely with orientation to help the program run successfully
  • Perform other duties assigned by the USC Leadership Staff and the Student Life and Engagement Staff
  • Develop assessment guidelines for student employees
  • Be trained and serve as on-call housing director (optional)

Preferred Skills:

  • Excellent guest service and communication skills
  • Knowledgeable about student centers/unions and their general operations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Event Management Systems, and Google documents
  • Experience in crisis management, student union operations, programming, the reservations process, and/or utilizing audio/visual equipment


The Summer Intern is directly supervised by the Union Operations Coordinator.
