Position Description

One Graduate Research Assistantship is available in the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Assessment beginning in January 2022, with the option of continuing. This position will work primarily with the Assessment Program and will involve collecting, maintaining, and analyzing data from entering first year and transfer students along with graduating seniors and graduate students.

Specifically, the Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) is primarily responsible for responding to student inquiries about on-line assessments and updating student records. Additional duties may include: entering and cleaning data; developing and maintaining databases and spreadsheets; administering surveys; developing and pilot-testing Web-based assessment surveys; assisting in data analysis and interpretation; writing reports; reviewing relevant literature; updating student records; and performing other administrative duties as needed.


Good oral and written communication skills and good computer skills are required; knowledge of and experience with word processing (MS Word), spreadsheet (MS Excel), databases (MS ACCESS), presentation software (MS PowerPoint); some knowledge of, or experience with, human subjects research; critical thinking and problem-solving skills; ability to take initiative; good organization and office management skills; good interpersonal skills. 

Contract Terms 

Twenty (20) hours per week in Spring 2022, with an opportunity to continue in Summer 2022 and beyond; enrollment for a minimum of 3 credits in the summer and 9 credits in the fall and spring while seeking a master’s degree; renewable as long as student is eligible and meets performance standards. Salary is $5000 per semester; tuition waiver for master’s students from out-of-state to in-state rate, if available.
