Graduate Assistantship

The Office of Academic Success Initiatives and Support advances a culture of academic success through high impact and experiential learning practices, academic and student support services, and enhanced partnerships with the colleges.  Under the supervision of the Director of High Impact Learning and Assessment, the graduate student will assist with the following:

  • Campus-Wide Initiatives Management and Support
  • Data Management and Program Assessment Support
  • Program Administration

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Campus-Wide Initiatives Management and Support:
    • Provide administrative support for the HIP Council
    • Provide program and logistic support in the planning and execution of the HIP Digital Showcase at the Undergraduate Research Symposium
    • Provide administrative support in the planning and execution of the 2022 PACE Institute
    • Assist with special events for other high-impact learning showcases
  • Data Management and Program Assessment Support:
    • Support survey creation and dissemination
    • Conduct data collection and analysis as needed
    • Draft reports as needed
  • Program Administration:
    • Assist with administrative duties for the INNOVATE program, such as recruitment, meeting logistics, and tracking student administrative processes
    • Act as a program mentor for student teams engaged in the INNOVATE Monarchs program
    • Assist with the maintenance of various databases, schedules, and systems for the upkeep of programs
  • Other Responsibilities:
    • Maintain 20 office hours a week with flexibility when needed
    • Attend weekly meetings with supervisor and professional staff meetings 
    • Assist with updates for selected program websites as needed
    • As needed, assist with special projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Enrolled full-time in an ODU master’s-level graduate degree program
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, and public speaking communications skills
  • Demonstrated experience in performing detail-oriented tasks
  • Experience with Excel spreadsheets
  • Demonstrated positive attitude, self-motivation, and the ability to be flexible in a fast-paced environment
  • Preferred experience with assessment-related tools, including SPSS and Qualtrics

COMPENSATION:

The High Impact Learning and Assessment Graduate Assistant position is paid an $11,000 stipend for the 2021-2022 academic year. The assistantship begins on August 25, 2021 and ends on May 09, 2022. Students hired after August 25, 2021 will receive a prorated stipend. This assistantship requires a one academic year commitment.
