General Job Description:

The Student Employment Team within Career Development Services is searching for a student-focused, self-starting and creative Student Employment Coordinator. You would partner with the Student Employment Program Planner in the hiring, onboarding and routine training of over 300 students annually. The ideal candidate would have firm compassion for students, the ability to be flexible, and attention to detail.


Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Scheduling as well as occasionally creating and facilitating professional development workshops for Federal Work Study and LEAP students. You will help in the timely submission of new hire paperwork through both paper and electronic channels. You will help with the approval of Web Time Entry for students in off- campus FWS programs and the LEAP program. You will work with both on-campus and off- campus partners to provide various employment opportunities for students to learn and grow through gainful employment. You will have the opportunity to COACH students during both tumultuous times as well as in triumphs. You will be able to APPLY STUDENT DEVELOPMENT THEORY during the creation of various workshops. If you would like to learn about Budget Management, you can assist with the oversight of an over $1,000,000 budget. You will gain Event Planning experience as you will be asked to assist with Career Fairs as well as a weeklong Student Employee Appreciation Week Celebration. You will also help in the direct Management of 6 student employees

Minimum Qualifications
-Must be student-focused
-Must be a self-starter
-Must be creative
-Moderate Microsoft Office experience especially with Excel and PowerPoint -Some office experiences
-Some experience using basic office equipment (printers, fax machine, multi-line telephone) -Some customer service experience
-A commitment to helping people
-The ability to empathize without losing sight of structure and regulations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some sales experience
  • Any experience working with resumes, or job search strategies
  • Any human resources experience
  • Any understanding of such regulations as ADA, ACA, EEOC or FLSA
